Mexican Cooking Classes

Mexican food

Sharing my Mexican culture, language and food with friends has become my passion. With a specialist hospitality background as a air-hostess I appreciate how we are so easily connected to other countries and cultures.

But I quickly realised that the food eaten in Mexico is very different to the food presented as “Mexican” food in Western countries like Australia, UK and America.

Mexican Cuisine is fresh – and tacos are not over-sized crispy corn chips! Growing up I ate a lot of tacos, but traditional Mexican tacos and food is different from what you order from a dine-in or take away shop in Australia.

What to Expect

My lessons are not just about cooking a Mexican dish. They also educate you about my cultural heritage, learn a little bit of Spanish and include a lot of special food tastings.

  • We start each lesson gathered around the table to cover the theory component of our lesson. You’ll learn about today’s Recipes (the recipes are yours to keep).
  • All food is prepared by our guests. Your hands will get dirty! But we follow safe food practices and good hygiene throughout the lesson and leave the tasting until the end.
  • All ingredients, equipment and aprons are provided on the day
  • All food prepared is enjoyed as a family style meal at the end of the class out on the wide verandahs of Gaby’s Hacienda
  • As part of your booking, each student is able to invite a guest to join us at lunch/dinner time (relevant to your class booking time). Your guest’s meal is included in the price of your booking.
  • Group bookings allow for up to five students to participate in a cooking lesson. Bookings can be made for any day of the week subject to availability.

There’s so many ways you can add a little more fun to your Mexican Cooking Class  experience at Gaby’s Hacienda. Think about dressing in a Mexicana theme, wearing sombreros or bringing your own tequila sunrise!
